There are currently ten known reverse dies with typographical errors, all of which were made by Johan Ephraim Bauert at the Copenhagen Mint. Four of the errors went unnoticed, while the other six were detected and corrected before the dies were put into production. However, these errors were not easy to remove from a steel die, and traces of the original letters can still be seen.
In addition to these typographical errors, Bauert made six reverse dies on which he placed “1771” directly below “DANSKE”, forgetting to include the “K.M.” line. As can be seen from the scans below, Bauert also had difficulty correcting these mistakes.
