Copenhagen Type 3

When Copenhagen resumed production in 1779, the first two new reverse dies actually carried the date 1779. The experiment was short-lived: the Mint soon returned to the frozen 1771 date, and Type 3 developed into a large and varied series characterized by its smaller, symmetrical “M” with non-parallel legs. Produced mainly from late 1779 to 1781, the group also contains some of the first memorable errors and aberrations of the 1771 skilling series.
