Copenhagen Type 2

A response to criticism: after the unusual appearance of the first Copenhagen coins caused concern, Johan Ephraim Bauert adjusted his design to resemble Wolff’s Altona style more closely. Type 2 retains traces of Bauert’s original lettering, particularly in the “E” and “M”, but generally uses larger fonts. Most of these dies were probably used in 1774–1775, during the final phase of Copenhagen’s first major production period.
