Die study · Altona Mint
The final Altona chapter: Type 7 introduced more symmetrical, diamond-like upper rosettes and continued through a remarkable series of changes to the “1”s, “M”, “K” and “L”. Produced from mid-1784 until the 1771 skilling mintage finally ended in July 1785, it became the largest Altona type and accounted for more than one fifth of the entire production of the coin.
