Die study · Altona Mint
Type 6 continues directly from Type 5, but the distinctive arrowheads of the lower “1”s begin to disappear. Across the series their feet become shorter and thicker, while the form of the “M” changes again as Wolff continued to alternate between his two characteristic designs. Produced mainly during 1783 and the first half of 1784, these dies also belong to the period when large numbers of Copenhagen dies were being used at Altona.
