Where it all began: the first dies of the 1 skilling 1771, cut by Johan Henrik Wolff at the Altona Mint in Holstein between 1771 and 1773. Somewhere in this group hide the very first skillings struck — the only coins of the entire mintage to wear the famous date honestly, before «1771» froze into fifteen years of polite backdating.
